It’s fun, it’s friendly, and it’s built to be the bulletin board you actually want to read.

Whether you’re new to Hillsboro or have deep roots here, The Orenco Press is your insider guide to the city you call home.

Meet Brewster

Brewster Bigfoot is our official mascot!

Legend has it, Brewster first appeared in Hillsboro sometime after the last RadioShack closed.

Nobody’s quite sure where he came from, but he’s been spotted at every farmers market, food truck pod, and local festival since — always in search of the perfect chai, a hidden walking trail, or the crispiest tots in town.

He’s got a quiet presence and a big heart. Brewster doesn’t say much, but when he does, it’s worth listening. Whether he’s tipping you off to a tucked-away park, cheering on a neighborhood band, or handing out bingo cards with surprising intensity, Brewster’s mission is simple: celebrate everything that makes Hillsboro home.

If you see him out and about, don’t be shy — give a wave, snag a selfie, or just follow the smell of coffee and street tacos. When Brewster pops up in your inbox, trust that something wonderful is afoot. 👣

Brewster’s Favorite Things

  • ☕ Go-to drink: Hot oat milk chai — no foam, light cinnamon, whisper of nutmeg
  • 🖐️ Secret skill: Never loses at bingo (and gets very smug about it)
  • 🌮 Most likely to be found: By a taco truck or in the back corner of the library, reading local history
  • 🐵 Favorite park: The one with the big pond on Google Maps (he refuses to call it anything else)
  • 📆 Current mission: Find the best fall festival treat (it’s a heated debate between fry bread and caramel apples)
